The surname is spelt both Ansell and Anzell. Julia (Bilna) was born around 1833 at Norfolk, England. She married William Anzell on 30 March 1854 at Melbourne. William was a digger born around 1830 in England. They travelled to the Ballarat Diggings where their daughter, Mary Jane, was born on 17 January 1855 (died 1855). Other children born to them were: Sarah Ann b. 1856 Magpie; Harriet b. November 1859 (died 7 January 1860); William b. 1859 (died 1860); William Henry b. 18 March 1864 (died 10 July 1876 aged 12 years); Edwin John b. September 1865 (died 1866); Thomas b. 1868 Ballarat (died 26 December 1868); Ida Louisa (Ada) b. 17 June 1873 Ballarat East (died 8 November 1873). Julia was buried in Ballaarat Old Cemetery on 4 July 1912 aged 75 years and was at that time living at Dandenong. Her husband William Frederick died aged 53 years and was buried on 28 March 1878 in the Ballaarat Old Cemetery.
