Elijah and Emma Aust (Heale) at 26 and 20 years of age respectively immigrated to Victoria in August 1853 on the Lady Kennaway. They came first to Ballarat, then moved to Creswick before settling in the Smythesdale area. Elijah and Emma Aust produced the following children: Daniel George b. 8 February 1854 Ballarat (baptised 28 August 1854 at Wesleyan Chapel Ballarat); Alice Elizabeth b. 1856 Creswick; Eliza b. 1861 Smythesdale; Mary Ann b. 1863 Smythesdale (died aged 20 months); Anna Maria b. 1865 Scarsdale; Fanny Louisa b. 1868 Scarsdale; Thomas Elijah b. 1871 Newtown; Henry Albert b. 1873 Scarsdale (died aged 7 weeks); Henrietta b. 1874 Scarsdale (died aged 10 months). Emma was a signatory on a petition in 1869 stating that she would send 3 children, Annie, Eliza and Sarah Anne Aust to the Scarsdale school if it was built. Emma Aust, the daughter of George and Elizabeth Hale (Heale), died in 1905 aged 72 years at Little Bendigo. Her husband Elijah died in 1905 aged 77 years at Maldon.
