Ellen Mary (Trobridge) was probably married to George Bartlett before proceeding to Victoria as there is no record of a marriage that can be found to date, in the Victorian registrations. Rhoda Grace was born to Ellen Mary and George Bartlett on 20 April 1854 and baptised in the Wesleyan Chapel on 2 July 1854 in Ballarat. Her birth was registered early in the 1855 birth registrations (number #1835) as Rhoda Grace (died 1855 aged 10 months). Ellen and George produced the following children: Rhoda Grace (2) b. 1858 Ballarat (died 1858 aged 6 months); Minnie b. 1860; Charles Arthur b. 1863 (died 1865 aged 2 years); Rhoda Grace (3) b. 1866 (died 1867 aged 8 months); Charles George Richards b. 1866 (died 1867 aged 8 months); Mabel Kate b. 1870; Henry Arthur b. 1873. Of eight children only three had survived by 1880.
