David Phillipson

When David Alexander Phillipson was born in 1833 in Somerset, his father, Alexander, was 33 and his mother, Jane, was 33. His father was a surgeon. David married Ann Deas on 1 October 1861 in Ballarat, Victoria when he was 28 years old. They married at The Manse, Soldiers Hill, David was living at White Flat, Ann at Golden Point.

Ann Deas was born on 27 August 1840 in Tillicoultry, Clackmannanshire, to Ann Henderson, age 32, and Robert Deas, age 47. Tillicoultry in Clackmannanshire originates from the gaelic Tullich-Cul-Tir, meaning the mount or hill at the back of the country. Tillicoultry is situated in the front of the Ochil Hills.When Ann Deas was born on 27 August 1840 in Tillicoultry, Clackmannanshire, her father, Robert, was 47, and her mother, Ann, was 32.

 

Yarrowee Holy Royal Arch Chapter of the Freemasons. David Phillipson was a member of this Lodge.

David Phillipson, a Kirk Officer of St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, was also a member of the Freemasons. He was a member and Master of Yarrowee Lodge 114 in 1895. At 62 years of age on 4 February 1896 he was a member of the Holy Royal Arch Masons 7 (this Lodge was attached to Yarrowee).

David and Ann had 14 children in 31 years. His daughter Annie Henderson Deas was born in 1858 in Ballarat, Victoria. His son Robert Deas was born in 1862 in Ballarat, Victoria. His son David Alexander was born in 1864 in Ballarat, Victoria. His daughter Jane was born in 1865 in Ballarat, Victoria. His daughter Jane passed away on 27 April 1867 in Ballarat, Victoria, at the age of 2. His daughter Agnes Jane was born in 1867 in Ballarat, Victoria. His daughter Margaret Ann Spence was born in 1869 in Ballarat, Victoria. His son Henry Carylon was born in 1870 in Ballarat, Victoria. His daughter Fanny Muir was born in 1872 in Ballarat, Victoria. His daughter Margaret Ann Spence passed away in 1872 in Ballarat, Victoria, at the age of 3. His son Thomas Muir was born in 1876 and passed away that same day. His son Thomas Muir was born in 1878 in Buninyong, Victoria. His daughter Jane Carlyon was born in 1880 in Ballarat, Victoria. His daughter Jane Carlyon passed away in 1882 in Ballarat, Victoria, at the age of 2. His son Henry Carlyon passed away on 12 February 1883 in Ballarat, Victoria, at the age of 13. His son George Benwell was born in 1884 in Ballarat, Victoria. His son Andrew Martin was born in 1886 in Ballarat, Victoria. His son John Edward Andrew was born in 1889 in Ballarat, Victoria.

He died on 28 May 1901 in Ballarat, Victoria, at the age of 68, and was buried there.
